Everybody loves a good Christmas film, so I though I’d share with you my top 10 to watch this year… just make sure you’ve got enough hot chocolate and quality streets on hand! If you have any festive movies that are not on this list to recommend, leave a comment or drop me a DM on insta @hannahbethblogs!
And without further ado, here are my top 10 Festive Movies!
10) Fred Claus
A Christmas comedy about Santa Claus’ brother… I’m going to be honest; I haven’t watched this film in a few years, but I’m definitely planning on dusting off the cover this year to watch it again because it is hilarious!
9) Arthur Christmas
I’ve never been a massive fan of animated films, which is why this one isn’t higher up on the list, but this film is definitely worth watching this festive season – and it’s one for all the family!
8) A Golden Christmas
Christmas and golden retriever puppies (I’ve actually only just clocked the pun in the name whoops)… need I say more?
7) Home Alone 2
This had to feature, did it not? I’d love to spend Christmas in New York, but for now I’ll just have to settle for watching Kevin achieve my dream. The bird lady is also one of my favourite characters ever… although I have always been scared of pigeons, so I’d quite like her to stay the other side of the Atlantic, thank you very much!
6) A Christmas Prince
I was super excited when this came up on my recommended and I think I watched it the day after it came out… it’s got everything you want in a Christmas movie – snow, a very attractive lead couple, a happy ending and lots of soppiness! It also kind of reminded me of the Princess Diaries, which are among my favourite ever films so definitely check this one out!
5) Home Alone 1
Yes, Home Alone 1 is higher up than no. 2. Yes, that’s because it’s better. You just can’t beat an original… especially with the same concept as Home Alone. Forgetting your child once? Funny. Twice? Someone should be calling social services.
Okay; technically cheating here as Cinderella isn’t strictly a Christmas film (otherwise it would 100% be number 1. What can I say? I’m a sucker for fairytale romance) however it is on BBC1 on Christmas Day this year, straight after the Queen’s Speech at 3.10. Watch it. You won’t regret.
3) Love Actually
I watched this for the first time last year and boy had I been missing out until that point! Some people say it’s too cheesy. I say you can never have too much cheese.
2) The Polar Express
The Polar Express is a Christmas classic. It’s super feel-good, completely timeless and has one of the most festive soundtracks of all time. The only reason it didn’t get top spot is because of that creepy scene with the puppets – you know the one I mean – but I still love it!
Elf is comedic festive genius. Don’t even try to argue with me here. If you haven’t watched Elf before (have you been living under a rock?!) then drop everything and watch it right now. Like, right now. Seriously, why are you still reading this? You should be watching Elf!
